Mid-20th Century Papier Mache Fairground Amusement Figure
We are proud to offer a highly decorative mid- 20th Century papier Mache fairground amusement figure. Depicting a horse racing jockey holding his racing saddle matt and side bag. Stood on a cardboard plinth, hand painted with some lovely detail. This item would likely have been placed around a fairground amusement of sorts.
Size in inches or ark: H 38” x W 12” x D 10”
Origin: French
Period: mid - 20th Century
Material: Papier Mache
Condition: This item is completely solid in structure and form. Wear is present through faded and natural patina across the painted surface, weather papier Mache to the base and across sections of the figure are also present. Its exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas in this piece therefore we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment.

It’s quite simple. We buy what we like. We believe that extraordinary items are owned by extraordinary people who live in extraordinary spaces. We are driven by the passion to unearth and offer the most unusual, decorative and rarest objects.

Our house style is probably best described as artistic, theatrical and, even macabre.

We often get asked by our clients, “Where did you find that?” The answer is always the same. Look hard enough and you will find what you seek.
