A fantastic antique pop up anatomical diagram of the human face This has multiple layers presenting the inner working of the nose, eye and throat within.
Including the eye and the mouth/throat. It was published in Leipzig Germany in the late 1890s by Deutsches Verlagshaus Bong & Co. It is different than the later more common sensory organ manikins in that it focuses specifically on the eye and mouth/throat, showing the systems in much greater detail. The manikin of the eye shows half of a face, which folds out to reveal the muscular system on its backside and a newly exposed skeletal system. Within the skull's eye socket, there is a smaller plate of an eye with its lid and muscles. This smaller plate, which also includes part of the bone around the nose, folds out to reveal a smaller plate detailing the outer surface of the eyeball. This too folds out to reveal two more plates showing the inner workings of the eyeball. The second manikin located above shows the mouth and teeth. It folds out to reveal the muscles around the mouth and throat, the tongue, etc. It contains a small folding tab of a gland or similar part of anatomy, but I'm not positive what it is. The newly revealed plate details the upper and lower jawbones and the anatomy of the throat, including the vocal chords, trachea, etc. These illustrations are particularly charming. It is in great condition Everything is intact and working as should.

Initially inspired by the interior at The Mint in Rye (our 15th century holiday let in Rye, East Sussex) and requests to purchase items by clients while staying, we decided to start sourcing and selling so people could do just that.

Based between London and East Sussex we have built up a network of specialist sources that we pull from to create the unique edit that is The Mint in Rye.  We offer a mix of vintage textiles, primitive furniture, curios, first edition books, vintage film posters and antique carved oak.  These are not chosen for their age, but very much for their aesthetic appeal.  The visual still remains true to The Mint interior style, but has broadened to include vintage elements that have the same unique view point.

To view the collection, please contact Barrie on +44 (0)7714 764708.  Dependant on the pieces you are interested in, they may be in East Sussex or in London.
