Unusual Antique simple strippy Welsh Quilt, Carmarthenshire C1920

This is a very unusual antique Welsh strippy quilt made in the first quarter of the twentieth century in the small village of Llansadwrn Carmarthenshire. It reads like a piece of modern art despite its age. It is plain cotton with cotton batting and has again an unusual combination of colours making up the graphic central bar. The Welsh quilting includes a central cartwheel design surrounded by large spirals with an outer border of smaller spirals. The fabric is n lovely condition with only a faint discolouration towards the edge of the plain khaki side.

Initially inspired by the interior at The Mint in Rye (our 15th century holiday let in Rye, East Sussex) and requests to purchase items by clients while staying, we decided to start sourcing and selling so people could do just that.

Based between London and East Sussex we have built up a network of specialist sources that we pull from to create the unique edit that is The Mint in Rye.  We offer a mix of vintage textiles, primitive furniture, curios, first edition books, vintage film posters and antique carved oak.  These are not chosen for their age, but very much for their aesthetic appeal.  The visual still remains true to The Mint interior style, but has broadened to include vintage elements that have the same unique view point.

To view the collection, please contact Barrie on +44 (0)7714 764708.  Dependant on the pieces you are interested in, they may be in East Sussex or in London.
