Attractive 1920s pine utility cupboard

THE TEXTURED ROOM
Beautiful, and certainly characterful, 1920s tool or domestic item storage cupboard.  Possibly estate-made, this pine, mid-height cupboard can be used as a great utility or housekeepers cupboard in the modern home.  It can be fixed to a wall like a kitchen cupboard, be floor-standing or rest on a table or kitchen surface. It is ideal as a receptacle for domestic cleaning items or, with its shelves amended, as a bookcase.

We fell in love with its character and have kept it completely untouched on the inside.   It features hooks, shelves and a little wooden tray for clever storage of loose items. The symmetrical steel locks are original and stunning and open and shut beautifully, affixed to steel insets which are most unusual.

A cupboard with a different look, unusual shape and immense charm.

After styling and designing luxury hotel and home interiors for 10 years for city clients, I set up ‘the textured room” in 2014 from my home studio here in Sussex. Since then I have been selling vintage and decorative items in the antique hub of Lewes and undertaking a range of interior design commissions in Sussex and beyond.

I love simple interiors that reflect the simplicity of country life and the ease of country living. In today’s busy world, I believe we all have a need to remind ourselves of the beauty of nature and its simplicity, and bring them back into our homes. This is why I love the imperfect and its textures, mixing the old with the new, the natural with the beautifully weathered-by-everyday-life pieces – imperfect pieces that eventually find their perfect place in our homes.

Today, we are selling online and delivering beautiful stripped-back and natural-style homes and premises for our clients. I hope you will like our interiors and our latest handpicked collection of items.
