A rather good looking bank of 12 pine drawers though on the unusual side. The top was not smooth at all and had to be sanded. You can still see remenance of what was a harsh surface leaving a fantasic patina with the grain of the wood so evidently coming through. This applies to one side also.

You can also see the attractive old nails unusually nailed in from the top. In addition, the rear panels appear to have been repeatedly hammered. The indentations do not apppear to be evidence of worm. If they are then they are old. Out of an abundace of caution we have treated it in any event. We wonder whether the top and other panels were later additions?

Some of the drawers have what look like old round labels or perhaps wax seals adding patina and flush campaign style brass handles. The top right hand drawer is divided into four sections with the drawers graduating in size making it rather versatile in terms of what can be stored as well as heavy. All in all, plenty to talk about with this item.

Condition is comensurate with age and use. In addition, to the above there are scuffs and marks to the drawers and a black stripe mark down one side. An item that has been well used likely storing tools or items of that nature. Though the possibilities are endless as to what could be stored in them today.

Welcome to The Tractor Shed.

Having left my profession as a lawyer, I had the opportunity to turn my attention to my real passion: buying and selling antiques of all eras.

I quickly found that the best way forward was to buy what I like; items that make my heart flutter on seeing them for the first time and that I would like to have in my own home. I hope you feel exactly the same way when you look through my collection.

The name 'The Tractor Shed' came about after doing some research into the origins of my family home. We discovered that it was converted from the offices of a business where tractors were restored and sold in the 1960s and 1970s, keeping them going for decades. With this ethos of preserving things rather then pursuing the often-throwaway attitude we so often now see, I started my small business dealing in beautiful items that deserve to be with us for years to come.

Opening hours: Mon - Sat 10am to 6pm. I'm very happy to take calls at any reasonable times outside of these hours, esepcially for those clients where there is a time difference. Please don't hesitate to contact me as I would be delighted to assist to you.
