Three vintage industrial fibre drums. The two red ones are printed with the manufacturers name – ‘Walrus Fibre Manfg.Co.ltd, Fibre Goods, Rochdale Lancashire, England’ – though on one it is not so clear due to fading. The iron studs along the side and and around the bottom really set these off. The blue/red one appears to be unbranded though the mix of colours created over time lends itself to such fantastic patina. The company’s specialty was making seamless fibre cans for the mill industry for cotton, worsted, flax, rope and jute spinning in the c1900s. These have clearly been thoroughly used as evidenced in the photographs and can be continuously used as either decorative items or for storage purposes. Price is for each.

Welcome to The Tractor Shed.

Having left my profession as a lawyer, I had the opportunity to turn my attention to my real passion: buying and selling antiques of all eras.

I quickly found that the best way forward was to buy what I like; items that make my heart flutter on seeing them for the first time and that I would like to have in my own home. I hope you feel exactly the same way when you look through my collection.

The name 'The Tractor Shed' came about after doing some research into the origins of my family home. We discovered that it was converted from the offices of a business where tractors were restored and sold in the 1960s and 1970s, keeping them going for decades. With this ethos of preserving things rather then pursuing the often-throwaway attitude we so often now see, I started my small business dealing in beautiful items that deserve to be with us for years to come.

Opening hours: Mon - Sat 10am to 6pm. I'm very happy to take calls at any reasonable times outside of these hours, esepcially for those clients where there is a time difference. Please don't hesitate to contact me as I would be delighted to assist to you.
