A rare, circa 1860, bleached Scottish Darvel chair.

Approx only 200 of these chairs left worldwide as found by, mostly left as heirlooms. Makers, such as Hugh Shields who may well have made this chair, often made them to order for clients.

This mid-Victorian model starts to exemplify the emergence of styling that would later become more detailed into the 1900s, with further turnings to the front arm pillars, legs and stretchers.

With 9 spars, the chair has the characteristic scarph joint to the arm bows and groove to seat 1.5” from the edge.

With previous career history in Retail Visual Merchandising and Store Design, Husband and Wife team Steve and Kerry turned their creative talents to opening an Antiques and Interiors shop in Southampton in 2018, after having traded at fairs and online for a few years prior. With no specialist product area, the pair ‘buy what they love' and  like to think they can offer something for everyone, which includes both trade and private buyers. Notoriously known for their best selling quality leather club chairs, Track 21 Interiors continue to expand their inventory of both useable and decorative pieces for the home and more.
