Leather Captain's Desk Chair

VINTAGE FRANCE DESIGN
An early 20th century leather scroll back tub captain's desk chair. Beautifully crafted by a fine English cabinet maker. Unfortunately the maker's plaque is missing. The chair is made of solid mahogany, with carved fronts to the arms and has a swivel mechanism the works well although there is a minor amount of play as you would expect from a chair this age. The chair has its original upholstery. The seat is firm, its springs, stuffing and webbing all in excellent condition. The original black leather is in good condition and has been repaired and patched in places.

Vintage France Design is a British and French team of antiques and design enthusiasts who hunt for, import and restore French furniture, homewares and decorative antiques.

We look for fun, quirky, well-made, beautifully designed, rustic and industrial pieces with that all important age and patina.

Vintage France Design is run and managed by Milena and Marcus Frisby from their HQ near the Channel Tunnel with help from their France-based team of hunters.

Milena’s passion for antiques came from her French and American parents who were pioneers in the French architectural reclamation business in the 1970s.

Our searches take us to old houses, fairs and brocantes in far-flung corners of France where we find interesting items to sell for sensible prices via our website.

The images on the homepage of our website are from world-renowned urban explorer photographer Daan Oude Elferink who searches for beauty in decay in old, abandoned European historic buildings. We share his passion for beauty in age within the items that once sat in them.
