This is a quirky antique Irish dresser which dates to the mid 1800s.

Made of solid pine it is fairly heavy and solid but has the benefit of splitting into two parts making it easy to transport and position in any home.

This piece has a rustic country look which will suit a farmhouse or cottage, the perfect piece if you love very well aged pine.

The base has two spacious drawers which are finished with white ceramic knobs. The drawers are set over three narrow panelled doors which open to reveal a shelved interior.

The top section has double glazed doors and an old painted interior which is a lovely teal blue/green colour.

The wood has a naturally waxed finish which has a low sheen.

It is a very rustic and unusual piece of furniture which has a lot of character.

CONDITION

This piece is in solid structural condition with many, many marks of age and use to the wood. There is a lot of evidence of old historical woodworm and various other marks and stains to the wood which give it a lot of character. There are little chips and dents to the wood and the painted interior has a lot of wear, an ink stain and various other marks. Two of the knobs are damaged and there is a metal brace to the inside of one door.

It is a very rustic and well aged piece.

VINTAGE HOUSE is a small family run business based in South Devon, selling quality hand painted vintage and antique furniture and quirky home wares.

Our interest in Vintage furnishings has been years in the making.  From an early age I spent time at auctions and antique fairs in South Devon with my mum, a passion inherited from my eccentric grandmother who had an eye for quality and a hoarders heart for beautiful things.

Subsequently what started as a hobby has turned into a full time business, turning the endless search for things we love into things we can sell from our home and in our online store.

We source quality antique and vintage furniture from the 19th and 20th centuries and where necessary revive and restore pieces to bring them back to life and up-to-date.

In our workshop we undertake traditional French polishing and upholstery methods, as well as self taught painting techniques to re-finish pieces that require attention.

Most of our furniture is made of solid wood, usually oak, mahogany or pine, we appreciate quality and craftsmanship and prefer selling British made furniture whenever possible.

Selling pieces that are useful and practical in the modern home, storage is always a key theme, appreciating that people need attractive items that also provide functionality.

Our painted furniture is created using eco-friendly paints and waxes from Rustoleum, Farrow and Ball and The Little Greene Paint Company.

It has always been important to us to have a 'green' business, we love the concept of recycling old furniture instead of buying new.

Quality furniture is hard to find at a reasonable and affordable price and we feel that we provide both.  The things we sell don't belong in the mass produced age of flat pack furniture, but are tailored towards an individuality that will suit both modern and vintage homes alike.
