This is a handsome antique cabinet which dates to the early 20th century.
It would have once been part of a larger piece of office furniture and at some point in its life has been adapted and turned into a table top writing chest.
The chest is well made from solid oak and has a fall front which opens to reveal a leather topped writing slope and internal pigeon holes for storage.
Below this is a wide drawer finished with a brass drop handle.
The base is set on turned bun feet and the fall front has a distinctive patented brass lock with handle.
The cabinet is lockable and the key is present.
46.5cms high x 70cms wide x 24cms deep
There are various small marks of age and use but generally it is in very good condition.
The top would have once had a back plate, there are filled dowel holes where this once sat.
