This is a superb original hand coloured etching of the long eared owl plate number 29. These hand coloured copper engravings are from Francois Martinet’s classic Historie Naturelle des Oisaeux 1770/1786. This was issued in two folio sizes this piece. This one is from the larger set. The full frame size is a 39 x 54 cm. Plate size 46 x 32 cm approximately. Nicely framed in an oak frame probably early 20th Century. Overall quite nice condition with a little discolouration around the birds head and on the outer Page. But overall very nice for the age of the engraving. All in all a beautiful important 18th Century engraving.
