Item Details

Fabulous pair of decorative bird statues made by the Universal Satuary Corporation of Ilinois, and dated 1996.


The company now longer exists, but was formed by two brothers in the 1930s.


They employed many immigrant artisans to design the chalkware and plaster figures but by the 70s had transitioned to new materials that they called FiberClad in Frangible that they guaranteed would not break or chip.


As you will see from the photo, one of these does have a hairline crack in the base (!) but otherwise they are robust.


Would look wonderful either side of a fireplace, on shelving or outdoors. Price is for the pair.
