Item Details

A particularly attractive Art Deco period wall mirror dating from circa 1930, combining a wonderfully shaped bevelled mirror plate with carved oak floral detailing.

The substantial square mirror plate has softly scalloped corners and an unusually decorative cut and bevelled edge, producing a series of small geometric facets around the perimeter. Carved oak mounts project from behind the glass at the top, bottom and both sides, each worked with stylised flowers and scrolling foliage typical of the period.

The mirror retains an appealing degree of age to the original-looking glass, including light foxing and spotting & the odd scratch, which gives it considerable character without detracting from its use as a mirror. The warm colour and patina of the carved oak contrast particularly well with the glass.

Complete with its original metal hanging chain and ring.

A distinctive and highly decorative 1930s mirror, considerably more interesting than the more commonly encountered plain frameless bevelled mirrors of the period.
