Item Details

A fabulous 19th century French whole cloth quilt. A beautiful cotton Indiennes floral top fabric with dark cotton backing and wool filling. A handmade, individual piece.


Now, this is old, please do not expect perfection but do expect something very lovely!! Having said that it is in very good condition for an antique piece and perfectly suitable for use. In fact it has been looking rather lovely on our guest bed for the last few weeks, I'll be sad to see it go.


I have tried to show the imperfections in the photos; mostly some fading to areas of the top and the quilting stitches coming loose and a little damage to the under side; no more than I would expect from an antique piece.


The quilt was photographed on a 5ft/150 cm king size bed with a big thick duvet underneath.


Approximate weight: 5.5kg (quite a substantial piece!)
