Item Details

This is an unused antique French hemp sheet which dates to the early 1900s. It was woven on a narrow 19th century loom and is joined at the centre by a hand stitched seam as was traditional.

It has simple machined hems and a finely worked monogram of the letters GB in red thread and set to one side of the seam. A traditional and charming piece of French textile history; these are really a privilege to own and use.

You have a good 100 years of life in this one, it has not been used and so has no thinning, damage or wear. Freshly laundered and ready for use.

I was the first person to launder this sheet; the pale lines and slight patchy effect you can see will disappear in the next few washes as the colour lightens and creates an even tone.

So useful to have in the cupboard - a great bed cover, tablecloth, sofa throw, curtain.
