https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/amen-interiorsA Danish mid-century flatweave wall hanging, dating from the 1960s or 1970s and attributed to the wider school of influential Danish textile designer Vibeke Klint.
The composition combines geometric abstraction with suggestions of landscape: a large sun-like disc, fine radiating lines, sweeping curves, serrated bands and architectural forms. The result balances the graphic clarity of Scandinavian Modernism with the warmth and texture of handweaving.
The same design in its original colourway has previously appeared on the international design market as a Danish flatweave from the Vibeke Klint school, providing a useful comparison for the attribution. It is not attributed to Klint herself.
Originally woven in brick red and natural cream, the exposed face has faded broadly and evenly to a warm ochre, giving the textile an appealing earthy character. The original brick-red colour remains visible on the reverse.
Currently suspended from a dark wooden rod and finished with pale tassels and small wooden beads, which may be later additions.
