Item Details

A delightful subject for this small fountain piece circa 1950s. Depicting a young girl, with a pretty face and bob hairstyle, sitting below a Gunnera leaf, which is a herbaceous plant that grows large in size.

Over the years, it has achieved a lovely patina due to natural weathering and is in very good condition, with only a few nibbles to the underside of the leaf and a possible shrinkage crack from when it was originally cast to the back of the stem, which is approx 5cm and thinner then a piece of hair.

The options for where to place and use this piece are many. You could place her in an already established pond and have her made to work again as a fountain as the connecting tube is still below the piece and on top there is a spout for water to fall over the Gunnera leaf and dribble down into the water below. Who doesn't like the sound of tinkling water in a garden.

If you didn't want to connect it back up, you could simply use her as a feeding station for small birds or keep water in the top for them to bathe in.

However used, she is a lovely piece to have in an outdoor space, adding a fairytale element whilst providing in different ways for our feathered friends.
