Charming Pair Of Garden Scene Paintings

A very charming and colourful pair of paintings on canvas depicting garden scenes. As to who painted them? They are signed and dated 1935 and perhaps commissioned or painted by someone living in what was clearly a wonderful residence or just a visiting artist. Also possible is that they were painted by a garden designer to show the owner some layout options, as the central area seems to be the same in both pictures, but with different backgrounds. One with a vista involving a wrought iron pergola structure going the length of the back of the space, the other showing a walled area to the left and a pergoda structure to the right. Whatever the true reason, they are gaily done with a deft, if not naive touch, and are cheerful to look at, making them ideal to place in many situations in the home. There is one slight tear that frankly, though I've shown a close up that makes it look large, it is in truth hard to spot when looking at it in person and certainly doesn't detract from the piece at all. To have a pair is always nice, and provides the option of placing one either side of a mirror perhaps. Certainly perfect bedroom, hallway or kitchen decor.
