Item Description
A beautiful bench from the late Qing dynasty.
This bench is around 130 years old, made from elm, with good patination and traces of the original deep brown, almost red lacquer on the legs.
This particular bench has wonderful detail, with its fluted legs and curved design on the front and back panel. Double stretchers are at either end making it extremely sturdy, this bench is in great condition, except for a small chip on the back panel, cosmetic only.
Such benches were frequently used in public places such as restaurants but also in homes. In a modern setting, they would still be marvellous around a kitchen table or in a hall or conservatory.
The dimensions of this Bench are as follows- H - 49.5cm, L - 103cm, W - 35cm at base, 15cm on seat.
