Item Description
These gorgeous serving plates originated in China in the early 20th century. They are made from a mix of wood and copper. They have a lovely rectangle shape, and they all have their original lacquer and have hand-painted illustrations which are unique to each plate. Each plate also has their makers mark on the back.
Plate 1: Unfortunately due to the age of this plate there has been some wear on the painted image, but what we can decipher is that it is a lady in traditional Chinese clothing, holding a basket of flowers and she is with a little man, presumably a servant. The red flowers around the edges symbolise good luck and happiness.
Dimensions: H - 4cm, D - 31.5cm, W - 19cm.
Plate 2: This specific plate shows three distinct figures, all in elaborate clothing which suggests that they are of high status and wealth.
Dimensions: H - 3.5cm, D - 21.5cm, W - 37.5cm.
Plate 3: This plate showcases a scenic background with a figure, who is well dressed in traditional Chinese clothing. The figure is holding an item which we think is knife which could represent his authority and stature.
Dimensions: H - 4cm, W - 22cm, D - 37cm.
