These beautiful bowls originated in the 19th century and they were used as mortars. They are all handmade and carved from black stone. The patina is clearly visible, showcasing the age of these mortars. Originally, they would have been used to store and grind spices in India. Nowadays, they can be used for a wide range of things such as decorative items, or succulent a planter.
