Item Details

A large, mid 19th century, French copper mug. This was probably made as a measure as it was never tinned as it would have been if it were made as a drinking vessel. There is no evidence of a weights and measures mark but this could have worn off with constant polishing. The mug is made from a very heavy gauge of copper, has castellated seams and a brass base and rim, and it dates from c.1850. There is solder around the handle, there are large dents to the handle, and there are some other tiny dents to the sides.
