Item Details

A charming, 18th century, French copper chocolate pot with embossed decoration. This dates from c.1780. The sheet copper would have been pressed with the design and then rolled into shape and joined with a castellated seam. The design consists of scrolls and flowers between wide fluted bands. The lid has a corresponding band to the rim and leaves to the top. The piece has a turned wooden handle, with steel fittings, and it comes complete with a turned wooded chocolate stirrer. We usually make all of our copper shine but this has such a wonderful patina that it would be shameful to polish it. It is in very good condition but the interior is worn.
Dimensions: Height of pot 20cm. Diameter of the base 11.5cm. Overall width of pot and handle 33cm.
