Item Details

A fabulous, 18th century, French copper grape hod. Grape hods would be strapped onto the back of the grape pickers, when picking the grapes from the vines, and the grapes would be thrown into them. This example is beautifully embossed with military and musical trophies, garlands, flames and many elaborate border designs. It dates from c.1780 and would have come from an important and wealthy vineyard. There is a split around the base of the piece and there is some denting which can all be seen in the images.
