Item Description
A fine quality, 18th century, solid blue jasper basket. This is unmarked but it is made by Neale and it dates from c.1785. Examples of a tea service with the same engine turned basket weave decoration and applied white anthemion can be seen in Diana Edwards book “Neale Pottery and Porcelain. Its Predecessors and Successors”. All examples in this book are marked “NEALE & CO”. The jasper is a super, silky quality and the combination of the engine turned design to the lower section and the white, anthemion relief to the rim is exquisite. There is further, very fine white relief to the handle which has miraculously stayed in tact. The piece is in excellent condition.
Dimensions: Length 14cm. Width 6.8cm. Height 9.5cm.
