Item Description
An 18th century, Staffordshire, white salt glaze jelly mould of four tiered, star shaped form. This is very finely potted and has a slightly grey, orange peel effect to the glaze as one would expect with white salt glaze. The moulding of the design is very crisp on the exterior but less so on the interior, and the mould dates from c.1750. Moulds of this period are now quite hard to find as they were made for use in kitchens and not always well looked after. This example does, unfortunately have some damage. There is a hairline crack which runs from the rim to the top of the mould and this can be seen in the images.
Dimensions: Length 7.8cm. Width 7.5cm. Depth 3.2cm.
