Item Details

A mid nineteenth century, French copper, lidded jug. This is made from quite a heavy gauge of copper and it has castellated seams around the base and up the side. It dates from c.1840. There is a flat strap handle to the side which attaches to the hinged lid. There is some denting to the bulbous section of the jug and this can be seen in the images. The interior was originally tinned but this is now badly worn so the piece is for decoration only, or for use as a flower vase.
Dimensions: Height to top of thumb plate 24.5cm. Width across the handle 23cm. Diameter 16cm.
