A fabulous pair of 19th century carved wooden coat or hat hooks in the form of dogs heads. These are French and they date from c.1860. They are beautifully carved, in walnut as the heads of setters, and they have glass eyes. The carving has fabulous depth and detail and they would make a stunning statement in any hallway although it would be such a shame to cover them up by putting a coat or hat onto them. They are in excellent condition but one of the dogs has lost can eye. The wood has a good, rich patina.
