Unfortunately there are many bad quality modern copies of this design but this is a good example dating from c.1880. It is made from quite a heavy gauge of copper and the fish is very well detailed with good depth to the moulding. Originally there was a foot on the opposite side of the mould to the hanging loop and this would have helped the mould to stand upright when filled. This is now missing but the mould is still very decorative, especially when hanging. Other than the missing foot it is in very good condition and the tinning, to the interior, would still be good enough for occasional use.
Dimensions: Length 24.2cm. Width 24cm. Depth 6cm.
