Item Details

An interesting 19th century nutcracker carved from coquilla nuts. Due to the size of the piece the outer section and the thread would have had to have been carved out of two separate nuts. It is carved with the typical designs which were carved on coquilla nut snuff boxes and it dates from c.1880. The carving is beautifully executed, with fine detail, and the opening for the nut is heart shaped. It is in excellent condition and has a lovely patina.
