A nice quality, 19th century, white marble mortar with a turned wooden pestle. This is an ideal size for general kitchen use and the neutral colour would fit in with most colour schemes. The white marble has just a small amount of light grey flecking, probably comes from Northern Italy and dates from c.1880. There is a very small chip to the rim but otherwise it is in very good condition. The pestle is nicely turned from a hardwood and this is probably ash. It is also in very good condition.
Dimensions: Mortar: Width 20.5cm. Height 12.8cm. Pestle: Length 21cm. Diameter 4.5cm.
