Item Details

An unusual, early 19th century child’s plate titled “A Shave for A Penny”. This is decorated with quite a rare, brown transfer print showing a monkey shaving in a mirror whilst being looked upon by a man with a stick, at the door, and two children at the window. The border is moulded with a repeated design which is naively coloured in polychrome enamels. The plate is English and it dates from c.1830. It is in excellent condition.
