Item Description
A superb set of Minton picture tiles depicting Aesop’s fables. Each tile is marked “MINTON HOLLINS & Co, PATENT TILE WORKS STOKE ON TRENT” and they date from c.1880. They all depict various Aesop’s Fables. We have the “Bear and the Bees”, the “Cat and the Mice”, the “Wild Boar and the Fox”, the “Raven and the Swan”, the “Wolf and the Sow”, and the “Huntsman and the Dog”. This series was produced in monochrome transfer print but it is rare to find them with this fabulous, polychrome colouring. They are absolutely delightful and they are in very good condition.
Dimensions: Each tile is 15.3cm. square by 0.9cm deep.
