Item Description
A fabulous coloured, 18th century, marble mortar with a single ended, wooden pestle. This is probably from Northern Italy and it dates from c.1780. The marble mortar is a most unusual colour with shades of reddish brown and beige, and white veining. The pestle is turned from boxwood and the shape resembles an ornate skittle. There are a couple of very tight cracks in the pestle but it could still be used and the mortar is in excellent condition. Dimensions: Mortar: Width 26cm. Height 13.8cm. Pestle: Length 24.2cm. Diameter 5cm. Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £40. Most of Western Europe add £20.
