Item Details

A 19th century, beechwood breadboard carved with the motto “Take Freely and Thankfully”. This is one of the more unusual mottos to find carved on a breadboard and it is well carved in a Gothic script. The board is English and it dates from c.1880. There is wear to the border and there are the usual knife marks to both the face and the reverse of the board, from use. The wood has quite a rich patina.
Dimensions: Diameter 30cm. Depth 2cm.
