https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/appleby-antiquesA good quality, 19th century, English copper mould. This is marked with the orb and cross symbol used by Benhams and it is also stamped “REGISTERED APRIL 22. 1863. It dates from c.1870. The design has a large cross to the top and the angular sides follow the shape of the cross. The design was called the Alexandra Cross. It was based on the cross on the flag of Denmark and was designed in 1863 to commemorate the marriage of Princess Alexandra of Denmark to Prince Edward who later became Kind Edward VII. There is very minor denting to some of the corners of the cross, which can be seen in the images, but otherwise the mould is in very good condition. The tinning, to the interior, although slightly dark, is still usable.
