An early 19th century child’s plate with black transfer print and enamel decoration in Pratt colours. This is a super quality child’s plate and it dates from c.1820. The central print shows a boy being given a watch by his grandfather. The verse reads: “THE NEW WATCH Who when I could both read and spell And in my writing got on well. Bought me a watch the time to tell. MY GRANDFATHER” The border is moulded flowers and foliage and the moulding is highlighted in yellow, ochre, blue and green. It is in excellent condition. Dimensions: Diameter 19.5cm. Depth 2cm. Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
