Item Details

A 19th century, double sided, fruitwood mould. This is carved with two fairly simple border designs to one side and a single leaf to the other. It is English and dates from c.1840. This type of design could have been used either for moulding hard sugar icing, for decorating cakes, or for gesso. One end of the mould has quite serious scorch marks but otherwise it is in good condition.
