Item Details

A lovely quality, pair of Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip candlesticks. These are marked “WEDGWOOD” and they date from c.1820. There is also an impressed mark, which is known as the moustache mark, and a large letter “V”. One stick is decorated with two classical subjects between trees, whilst the other has “The Three Grace" on one side and a pastoral scene on the other. To the foot of both is a scrolling, floral border and to the top of the neck is a narrow band of stylised leaves. All of the reliefs are very good quality and the jasper dip is a good, rich shade of blue. There is a tiny mark to the rim of one candlestick, where something has touched on the glaze in the firing, but there is no damage. Both sticks are in very good condition.
