Item Details

A small, pewter ice cream mould in the shape of an elephants head. This is a rare design and one that we have never seen before. It is marked “LETANG FILS PARIS 108 RUE VIEILLE DU TEMPLE” to the interior and it dates from c.1880. It is also marked, in the casting to the exterior “L G’ and “1900” the later being a pattern number. Letang were one of the leading French manufacturers of culinary, metalware in the 19th century. This mould is extremely well detailed and it is in excellent condition. The interior is still in very good, bright, usable condition and the exterior has a dark patina.
