https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/appleby-antiquesA nineteenth century, French copper milking bucket. This lovely shaped bucket is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1860. It has a castellated seam up the side, a wired rim to the top, and a stepped base which also has a wired rim. The brass handle is attached by simple copper fittings. There is very minor denting to the shoulder of the bucket, which otherwise is in very good condition. The interior was originally tinned, as it would have been for use with food, but this is now worn. However this would make a beautiful champagne cooler or jardiniere as it does still hold water.
Dimensions: Height 26cm. Diameter 31cm. Width across the handles 35cm.
