Item Details

A late 19th century, ceramic butter dish with a carved wooden surround. The willow patterned dish is marked with a monogram of “GJ” within a crescent, above “STOKE ON TRENT”. This is the mark of George Jones and the piece dates from c.1890. The surround is simply carved, in beechwood, with “BUTTER” and long, stylised, scratch carved leaves. It is in excellent condition.
Dimensions overall: Diameter 12.6cm. Depth 2cm.
