Item Details

A lovely quality, 19th century, octagonal sycamore breadboard. This is very well carved with flowers, leaves and wheat and it dates from c.1880. The carving is deep and well detailed but now has slight wear which gives good character to the board. There are knife marks to both the face and the reverse of the board, from use, and there are two burn marks to the reverse. Otherwise it is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, and it is not common to find such a nicely carved board in octagonal form.
