A huge, 19th century, French copper, rectangular casserole. This is made from an exceptionally heavy gauge of copper and it dates from c.1880. It has flat, copper, strap handles to both ends of the casserole and also to the lid, and these have nicely shaped terminals. There is slight pitting to the copper, from use, but otherwise it is in good condition. The tinning to the interior is worn but, as this is now rather impractical for cooking in most modern kitchens, it would be ideal for storage.
Dimensions: Length of pan 51.4cm. Overall length including the handles 60.5cm. Width of pan 29cm. Overall width of the lid 31cm. Depth of pan 18.5cm. Overall height 21cm.
