Item Details

A large, late Victorian wooden pie mould for making a hand raised pie. This is possibly made from ash although it is slightly difficult to see the grain in the wood due to the dark patina which has built up over the years. It is English and it dates from c.1880. There are two cracks in the base, which extend part way up the side, and there are numerous wood worm holes. The wood worm has been treated, so it is no longer active, but this piece is now more decorative than usable.
