Item Description
A rare, large pewter ice cream mould in the shape of an airship. There are a number of marks in the casting of this mould and one is a little indistinct but it reads “PATENT *** of Ark ***999”. I believe that there was an early airship called The Ark so this mark probably relates to that. The other marks include “DRGM 15821” and “323”. DRGM stands for Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster, meaning that the item was officially registered inside all German states before the introduction of centralised registration. The mark was first used in 1891 and this piece would date from c.1910. The handles to either side are slightly bent but otherwise it is in very good condition. The interior is in good, bright, usable condition and the exterior has a lovely dark patina.
Dimensions: Length 30.4cm. Width 14cm. Depth, including handles 13.5cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £30. Most of Western Europe add £15.
