This is marked ”MIDDLESBOROUGH” around an anchor, although the mark is not very clearly impressed. Middlesborough pottery used this mark from 1834 to 1844 so the mould dates from within this time frame. There is a well modelled beehive to the base and this is surrounded by a border pattern which was very popular in the early 19th century and is known as either the egg and dart, or the loop and pin, design. There is a 3cm. long hairline crack in the rim of the mould and a chip to the foot rim.
Dimensions: Length 22.2cm. Width 17.5cm. Depth 10.8cm.
