https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/appleby-antiquesA large, Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip, ogee shape jardiniere. This is marked ”WEDGWOOD” and it dates from c.1860. It is also impressed with a number “9”, which relates to its diameter in inches, and a letter W. It is decorated, in white relief, with a continuous band of classical maidens offering sacrifices. To the rim is a band of laurel leaves and berries and to the base is a band of acanthus leaves. The reliefs are all very good quality and the jasper dip is a lovely, rich shade of blue. There is a small firing fault on the relief depicting the pillar and this can be seen in one of the images. Otherwise the jardiniere is in very good condition.
Dimensions: Height 20.4cm. Diameter 23.5cm.
