Item Details

A large, wooden gesso mould with a later surround. This mould is carved in fruitwood, with a classical design, and it dates from c.1840. The surround, which is oak, would have been added at a later date, possibly to stop the mould from cracking, although there is no evidence of any damage. It is in excellent condition.
