https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/appleby-antiquesA nineteenth century, Minton curd cheese mould. Curd cheese would have been made and then flavoured with herbs and put into the mould. The holes would allow the whey to drain from the cheese leaving you with a nicely moulded, solid curd cheese. The mould is not marked, but it is definitely a Minton form, and it dates from c.1840. There is a well defined pineapple to the base and this is surrounded by a fluted border. There are two hairline cracks in the rim each one being about 3cm. long and these can be seen in the images.
Dimensions: Length 18cm. Width 13.4cm. Depth 8cm.
